Q: How long does it take to settle a Florida auto accident case?
Well, the AMA guides to the evaluation of permanent impairment says that you basically need to treat for about six months or longer. Right off the bat we’re looking at about six months until a doctor can determine if you’ve got a permanent injury. If your case settles without filing suit, typically within the six to nine month range your case can be resolved. However, if a litigation has to be filed, that can usually take about nine months to a year. Then you’re looking at about a year and a half until you can reach either a settlement at a mediation or go to a jury trial, which sometimes can take upwards of two years.
